Native American Performers Featured in Screening of Naturally Native
The Screen Actors Guild's Affirmative Action Department presented the sixth installment of its dialogue-driven series, "From Inception to Completion," examining motion pictures and TV programs by those underrepresented in the industry. Native American performers were highlighted in a screening of Naturally Native, co-directed, produced, written by and starring Valerie Red-Horse. It was shown on Wednesday, November 28, at 6:30p.m. in the James Cagney Boardroom. A panel discussion followed the screening to explore what it takes to successfully produce and market ethnicity-themed films. Panelists comprised of Red-Horse, Jennifer Wynne Farmer (co-director) and Yvonne Russo (producer, cast) discussed challenges that need to be overcome as well as what the future holds for such projects. SAG EEOC Chair Anne-Marie Johnson moderated the presentation.
